100 gifts later...

Overall this was probably the most rewarding things I have ever done. Just reminiscing the facial expressions or text messages from people after opening the gift really makes me only hungrier. Here are the highlights..

Making a list, calling you twice (or maybe 8 times):

It wasn't that hard making the list of 100 but it was a lot harder getting the gifts to 100 people. I had a lot of where's waldo battles where I had to eventually ship them. I got to give the gifts in person to over 60%. There was actually 8 people who didn't even re: to numerous attempts to meet or with their info to even receive a shipment so I just gave their their gifts away randomly at shows.

Drop a time on it:

It took a lot of time to make everything. I must shout out to my lady Rebecca who sat through many of movies helping me spray paint, super glue, cut, paste and design. I really lost track of the time it took to create, produce, write cards and deliver everything so i couldn't say how long this took to happen. Lets just say 4 months. It doesn't really even matter because it was fun and more fun when your with someone making good things for people.

What did people say?
I got so many different reactions it was crazy. I quoted most of them on my Twitter @davenoodlez

A lot of people said I should patent some of the ideas and I got a lot of encouragement from everyone. Some were confused at first then eventually understood. A few called me a genius, few said it was the nicest thing someone has done for them and many were surprised. When I delivered like 13 gifts in one day, I felt like I was on steroids between the adrenaline and the boost of my ego from everyone complimenting.

All in All:

It was great to give gifts to everyone I knew instead of my immediate family, my girlfriend and a couple of friends like I normally do. So many people were blown away by the principle of the gift/card. When someone gets a gift unexpectedly you really get to see how humble and grateful someone can be.

All in all this was one of the best experiences of my life. I got to give to a lot of people and acknowledge friendships. I got to share my art and ideas seeing first hand response to my latest inventions. I got to be the most effective with my $ on a holiday giving 100 people a gift instead of my normal 7. My total expenses which included 100 gifts in bags with cards totaled to about $230. ($2.30 a gift)
I got to make history.

Everyone that received a gift got one for a reason and I thank you all for giving me a reason to do what I do. I look forward to this year so I can continue to use my ideas to help, assist, inspire and give while dreaming out loud.

One last thing:

Ideas are no good when they are kept secret. I learned it was best to share them and help make people's life more full with them. You might just have what someone needs or have been looking for so give someone something they didn't know they wanted till you showed up with it.

I look forward to doing to an amazing 2010 with a bunch more art projects. Now it's time

You know I'm back on some new art projects follow "Stereotype Something"

Where you stand in this gift giving madness?

Holiday 100 has so far been awesome. I have surprised a lot of people and have made a bunch of people smile. It has been a great way to end 09 and start 10.

There's been a bunch of great reactions to the gifts and I'm only up to 40 delivered. My goal is to get them all new homes by Feb 1st. Wish me luck.

I'll be posting up reviews and reactions shortly.

What's your status?

So here's how where we stand.
4 more gifts need bags
1 gift broke (so I'm making a 1 of 1 for someone of something else)
6 have already found new homes
45 more cards need to be written

We getting there baby!

There shouldn't be an occasion to give a gift. Last week I got one of the dopest gifts from someone probably because the person thinks I'm a nice person. It was no holiday it was just a Thursday. You know what it did for me? It made my month!

This week try to make someone something (it could be a card with a smiley face on it, don't go crazy) give it to them and maybe write something like " here's something just because it's Wednesday at 3:30" If you do it and it works out e-mail davenoodlez@gmail.com. If it doesn't work out I'll just assume you didn't do it.

Think out of the box this holiday season.

It's getting hard to walk in my room

Hope everyone had an awesome holiday hanging, gift swapping, love making, eating, etc but now  we back to the grind tomorrow.

Stay Tuned...

With a little help from...

I didn't anticipate having someone to help me put these gifts together but it definitely helped the spirit and helped time go faster. It's just dope to work with people and see your vision come to life in even less time than expected. We had madd fun and put together some dope stuff.

Shout out to my good friend Rebecca. She came through big time and helped me finish 30 more gifts today. We now got just 64 more to go with 5 days left before Christmas.

Thought and creativity > $ Money Spent

My budget was just 200$. I figured I'd do the best I could with 2 dollars a person + I was buying a lot of supplies in bulk. When I completely finish buying all the supplies I will post the receipts up. Come back soon.

Excuses, Excuses

"Since times are tough I'm not getting anyone a gift" <--Please don't ever use that. A late card is still better than a good excuse. Your mom took like 9 Months to give birth to you and don't even buy her a card? C'MON SON! Think out the box this holiday season. I'm going to post pics, how to's and progress of the project. Come back soon.
